Dive Otago

All our courses are individually tailored. Our enthusiasm and caring approach is to teach our passion by experienced dive instructors and professional dive educators. We encourage scuba diving, with dive opportunities and deep pool sessions available every week. Our crew are scuba divers who actually go diving and not just in the water for teaching – this keeps their own skills and development up-to-date. We also can provide ‘Adaptive Scuba’ programs and training for disabled individuals and those with special needs as long as you can meet the minimum medical screening guidelines. Are you planning your holidays and thinking of getting away from the cold. Then why not learn to dive before you go. Scuba diving courses on holiday are OK, but why spend your vacation in a classroom and swimming pool – do all that here at home – then enjoy your holiday and have the benefit of just ‘diving’ while you are away! For qualified divers we run pre-holiday skill sessions in a 6m swimming pool.

Szilvia Gogh started scuba diving when she was 13 years old quite some years ago , as a member of a dive club in, in Budapest, Hungary. As a diver, she competed in orienteering diving for several years. Orienteering consists of finding buoys in low visibility lakes with the use of a compass and a distance counting device, kind of like a treasure hunt. It was an exhilarating accomplishment for her because she was the youngest female Course Director world-wide ever excepted for this highly respected program.

Our ancient maritime history— both glorious and tragic— is unparalleled around the world, much of it preserved beneath the waves around our coastline and therefore only accessible to divers. Falmouth — Cornwall Cuckcoo wrasse Falmouth Bay is a favourite among British divers for the range of options that if offers to divers of all experience levels, from easy shore diving to deeper technical wrecks.

The very nature of the location means that there are plenty of ships to explore, many of them easily accessible even to entry-level divers — diving straight from the beach will put you within reach of the remains of U-boats from the First World War. Cornwall as a whole offers plenty of excellent diving — and is a hotspot for basking sharks, for which trips can be arranged — but Falmouth, with its broad range of options, makes it an ideal place to start your discovery.

Sheltered from the elements and prevailing currents and therefore making it dive-able throughout the tidal range, the shallow sea around Swanage Pier is a popular spot for both entry-level training and more experienced divers who want to see interesting things in relaxed, calm waters. During the summer months, an outstanding variety of marine life can be encountered, with plenty of crabs, cuttlefish, squid and the famous tompot blennies scuttling about underneath the pier.

Heading out of the bay means that diving is more dependent on the tides, affording divers the opportunity to drift across the Peveril Ledges looking for lobster, and further out to sea for advanced divers is the wreck of the SS Kyarra, a m-long former passenger liner converted into a hospital ship during WW1 and sunk by a German u-boat in Fully grown, adult bulls can reach well over 2. As with most UK dive locations, there are plenty of wrecks — the most popular of which being Somali, a cargo ship sunk by the Germans in carrying — among other things — a huge cargo of lead toy soldiers and much of which, including the armaments and massive engine, remains intact for exploration.

Lundy — Devon Devonshire cup coral Another popular place for diving with seals is the island of Lundy, located in the mouth of the Bristol Channel about 12 miles north of the Devon coast. Described as having some of the clearest waters around the British coast, it was one of the first locations in the UK to be designated is a marine protected area.

According to the Landmark Trust, the action of the Gulf Stream makes the area one of the richest marine environments outside of the tropics. According to their website, ‘2, different creatures can be found in a single square metre of seabed and it is the only place where all five types of British cup coral can be found’. The seal population is much smaller than the Farne Islands, but equally delightful interactions are commonplace.

Jenny Peters Look beyond the headlines and you’ll find the Great Barrier Reef still has life in it, says Jenny Peters, who’s just back from a visit Monday 10 July And in fact, as travellers who still have not ticked it off their bucket list will be happy to hear, locals on the ground say that there is plenty of life left in the world’s largest barrier reef. That is notwithstanding the back-to-back bleaching events that occurred along the reef in and , in which the waters that envelope this natural wonder not only overheated but stayed hot through winter, effectively stopping the coral from spawning which is how it reproduces and thrives.

Adding in the effects of Cyclone Debbie, which made landfall in the Whitsunday Islands and at Airlie Beach in March this year, and there is no doubt that the reef has been taking a battering lately.

Posed by models Photograph: It seemed to trigger something — curiosity and then judgment. Are you a bitch? Young women, big tits, flat stomachs, a tight fit where it matters. I mentioned this to my friend Jack. Together we went in to my page with rolled-up sleeves and blitzed every one of the errors he identified — being whiney, being needy, being pompous and self-aggrandising that hurt , overly-conventional Radio 4 was tussled over; I won , and too bookish.

The argument that it was best to be myself cut little ice. That was limiting the response types. It was putting people off. It is important online not to be seen to take yourself too seriously. I am persisting with the accurate, off-putting version of myself. Jack set up his own page on one of the sites and reported back.

The wreck is well scattered over a wide area due to the various salvage operations carried out over the years. The boilers lie at 98 feet 30 metres deep and deepest part of the site lies at feet 40 metres. While a very interesting wreck to dive, it is not to be taken lightly.
